Skate for Charity
The charity Down’s Syndrome Association is more than £1500 richer this Christmas thanks to the skaters and mothers at Queens, London’s only ice rink and bowl. It’s been a successful competition year for Queens skaters who’ve competed at rinks around the country and generally finishing within the top three places.
With no Christmas show planned for 2008, the skaters decided they didn’t want all their hard work to go to waste so they volunteered to skate for the charity. While the mothers - who spend most of the year watching from the barriers - organized a cake sale and raffle the skaters presented their programmes to a large and enthusiastic audience. Fun was the key word for the occasion with on and off ice events capturing the attention of everyone, so congratulations to all participants and helpers for a job well done.
